Firefighting foam agents suppress fire by separating the fuel from the air (oxygen). Depending upon the type of foam agent, this s is done in several ways:
A highly effective Alcohol-resistant fire fighting agent for a wide variety of Class B Fires. AFFFs are based on combinations of fluorochemical surfactants, hydrocarbon surfactants, and solvents. These agents require a very low energy input to produce a high quality foam. Consequently, they can be applied through a wide variety of foam delivery systems. This versatility makes AFFF an obvious choice for airports, refineries, manufacturing plants, municipal fire departments, and any other operation involving the transportation, processing, or handling of flammable liquids.
Contains a specially manufactured high quality Mono Ammonium Phosphate Dry Chemical. It chemically insulates Class A fires by melting at approximately 350 F and clings to the surface to which it is applied. It smoothers and breaks the chain reaction of class B fires. It is also electrically non-conductive.
